Vieunite Joins Birmingham Open Studios 2026 With a Free Photography and Art Exhibition in Longbridge
BIRMINGHAM: Digital art platform Vieunite is taking part in Birmingham Open Studios 2026 with a free exhibition at the Allsee Technologies Innovation Centre in Longbridge. The show brings together photography, painting, collage and ceramics from artists based in Birmingham and abroad. It runs across two weekends, 26-27 September and 3-4 October, so the final two days are still to come.
A new use for a former car plant site
The venue adds to the story. The Innovation Centre is a new technology facility on the site of the old Longbridge car plant, and Vieunite describes the exhibition as the Centre’s first of this kind. For an area still rebuilding after the factory years, opening its doors to artwork and the local community is a fitting step in Longbridge’s regeneration.
Who attended the September reception?
According to Vieunite, the opening reception drew several civic figures. They included Vice Lord-Lieutenant Simon Topman MBE, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Zaker Choudhry, and local councillors Anthony Ward and Dr Charlie Latchford.
Birmingham Open Studios founder Owen de Visser visited in the afternoon and came back for the reception. He praised the Centre for hosting its first exhibition of this kind.
Global Spectrum: the main collection
The centrepiece is Vieunite’s Global Spectrum, which the company describes as a visual journey through our relationship with space, place and the environments around us.
The collection includes work by Birmingham-based photographer Richard Battye and the late Anthony Webb. It also carries international voices from Argentina, Patagonia, Canada and Switzerland, among them Christian Redermayer. Placing local and global photographers side by side, the collection looks at how the same idea of “surroundings” can be seen and interpreted in very different ways.
Royal Photographic Society Central Region showcase
Visitors will also find a curated display from the Royal Photographic Society’s Central Region. It features photographs made by regional members over the past year, from local photography walks and creative challenges to personal artistic projects. The RPS is among the world’s oldest and most respected photographic societies.
Two guest artists
Two multidisciplinary artists complete the line-up:
- Jo Vincent paints semi-abstract landscapes outdoors, working en plein air. Her practice treats creativity as a grounding ritual for wellbeing.
- Beth Alexandra works with painting, collage and ceramics to explore mixed heritage and cultural memory, moving between European and Kashmiri traditions.
Between them, the two artists add perspectives on nature, identity and our link to the world around us.
